Call for Applications from University of Cologne Research Alumni
Project Week “Global Digital Health - Interdisciplinary Challenges from International Perspectives”
Dear Research Alumni of the University of Cologne,
Would you like to come back to Cologne and also pay a visit to Heidelberg this November to take part in a 7-day project on Global Digital Health?
We invite you to apply for the Alumni Project Week: Global Digital Health – Interdisciplinary Challenges from International Perspectives, taking place from 20 – 26 November 2025, in Cologne and Heidelberg. For successful applicants, travel and lodging will be supported.
The stay can be used for up to five working days before and/or after the project week, e.g. for self-organised visits to the partner institutions in order to strengthen further cooperation.
This unique project is a collaborative initiative that brings together Research Alumni and local experts from six German institutions: DKFZ (German Cancer Research Center), KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), and the Universities of Cologne, Heidelberg, Münster, and Siegen, to tackle global challenges in digital health, AI, and more.
Its focus is on addressing the societal, developmental, and global relevance of digital advancements in health prevention, diagnostics, medical care and therapy, ageing research, biomedical informatics, as well as health policies and health education, alongside their challenges and opportunities from a global perspective.
The project aims to engage researchers from various disciplines, focusing on interdisciplinary dialogue and leveraging the diverse competencies of international alumni to discuss the development of global digital health and the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The interdisciplinary and international perspectives are key to identifying open questions and challenges in academic discussions, with contributions from the partner institutions serving as a catalyst.
The project week is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
