Prof. Ma's research interests lie in Topology and Differential Geometry. He is one of the leading experts in the field of Index Theory and Global Analysis on Manifolds. More specifically, he works on analytic and differential-topological properties of eta-invariants and Ray-Singer analytic torsion, elliptic genera, Bergman kernels and geometric quantization. The research areas are at the heart of the mathematical component of the KPA III. Prof. Ma will greatly contribute through his outstanding research and his teaching to the development of these areas at the University of Cologne.
