Erasmus in Cologne

We are pleased that you are interested in an exchange semester/year at the University of Cologne (UoC) as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

Application, Selection, Nomination

You are applying at your home university for an Erasmus semester/ year at UoC.

If you have been selected, the Erasmus coordinator at your home university will send an official nomination to the UoC. This will be sent to the Erasmus coordinators in the faculties as well as to Department 9 - International Affairs.

After we have received the nomination from your home university, we will send you an e-mail in June (for the winter semester/full academic year) or November (for the summer semester) with all important information. This includes an invitation to register for our online portal "UKI" (Uni Köln International), which will guide you through the application process and help you prepare for your semester at UoC. 

How do I apply?

You can apply via the UKI online portal. Please first read the "UKI Guide" and then register in the online application portal KLIPS 2.0.

 
When do I apply?


The application periods in UKI are:

  • Winter semester/full academic year: 15 May to 15 July
  • Summer semester: 15 November to 15 January

 
With which documents do I apply?

Please complete the online application in UKI and then send the required documents, which you must download in KLIPS 2.0, by e-mail to erasmus_studentsSpamProtectionverw.uni-koeln.de
These documents are:

  • Application for Admission 
  • Student Registration Form (Please note that the registration form must also be signed and stamped by your home university.)

Erasmus students at the Faculty of Medicine need to send additional documents to ZIB Med, which can be found on the following website: zibmed.uni-koeln.de.

How and when will I receive my letter of admission?

You can track the status of your application via KLIPS 2.0 applicant account. As soon as your application has been processed, you will receive an e-mail and will be able to download the letter of admission in KLIPS 2.0.

 
What is the enrolment process?

Please transfer the semester fee (for further information, please have a look at your KLIPS 2.0 account.

Please upload a passport photo of yourself in KLIPS 2.0. We need this for the UCCard, your electronic student ID, which is given to you upon arrival in Cologne.

Please also upload a health insurance certificate (EHIC) to KLIPS 2.0. If you are not in possession of EHIC, please upload a „Certificate of Exemption“ which can be issued by a German health insurance company.

After you have transferred the semester fee and uploaded the photo as well as the proof of health insurance, we can finalise the enrolment process.

Please track the status in your KLIPS 2.0 applicant account. As soon as your enrolment is shown as complete, you can pick up your UCCard at the Servicepoint of the International Office (located on the ground floor of the Student Service Center).

 
How do I arrange my courses? Who signs my Learning Agreement?

You can only select courses from the course catalogue via KLIPS 2.0 once your enrolment process has been successfully completed. For information on the courses, their contents and course registration, please contact the International Relations Center (ZIB) oft he faculty that you are going to study at.

The colleagues at ZIB or the Erasmus coordinators of the faculties are also entitled to sign your Learning Agreement. Please note: your Learning Agreement cannot be signed by colleagues from the International Office.
