Programme schedule and registration

The Buddy Programme:

The aim of the project is to provide participants with a refugee background in the preparatory German courses (mentees) with a buddy, i.e. a Cologne student, for one semester. Your buddies are supposed to help you arrive in Cologne, get to know the city and the university, and settle into your new home. They will support you with tips and advice on everyday life. Through personal contact, they promote your social (and linguistic) integration in Cologne. 

The Buddy Programme is part of the Service Learning des ProfessionalCenters format.

In the summer semester 2024, the Buddy Programme will start on 24 April 2024 with a mandatory information session.

What does the Buddy Programme offer me?

• If necessary, assistance with administrative procedures (registration with the city of Cologne, opening a bank account, taking out health insurance)
• Help with orientation on campus and in the city of Cologne
• Improvement of German language skills
• Contact with Cologne students and other new international students
• Participation in joint activities of the Buddy Programme
• Long-term international friendships
