Renmin University of China, Beijing

Minzu Universiy of China, Beijing
Located in the western part of Beijing, the Minzu University of China (MUC) is generally recognized as the most prestigious institution of higher learning for the education of ethnic minorities in China, and is considered the “cradle of senior professionals of Chinese ethnic minorities.” It is the only institution of higher education that enjoys priority support from the national government through both 211 and 985 projects.
Fudan University, Shanghai
Fudan University was established in 1905 as Fudan Public School. It was the first institution of higher education to be founded by a Chinese person. The two characters, fù (“return”) and dàn (“dawn”) were borrowed from A Commentary on The Classic of History (《尚书大传·虞夏传》), of which the part on the Yu and the Xia dynasties mentions: “Brilliant are the sunshine and moonlight, again the morning radiance returns at dawn.” In 1917, the institution was renamed Fudan University, which has been kept ever since.

Tongji University, Shanghai
Tongji University, formerly Tongji German Medical School, was established in 1907. It was given its present name and became a state university in 1927. It was one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in China. The university has developed rapidly in all respects over the sixty-five years since the founding of China, especially since the country's opening-up policy. It is now a comprehensive university with ten major disciplines in sciences, engineering, medicine, humanities, law, economics, management, philosophy, arts and pedagogy with strength in architecture, civil engineering and oceanography.
Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, Gansu Province

Xiamen University, Xiamen, Jiangsu Province
Xiamen University, established in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education. XMU has long been listed among China’s leading universities on the national 211 Project, 985 Project and Double First-class initiative, which have been launched by the Chinese government to support selected universities in achieving world-class standing. Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is the first overseas branch campus established by a prestigious Chinese university.
Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province
Founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen and with an educational tradition spanning over 100 years, is a preeminent research, academic and cultural center and the premier location for talent development in South China. Under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and strongly supported by both the Ministry and Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen University has developed into a modern comprehensive university that enjoys a reputation as a top-tier university nationally and a renowned university internationally. With five campuses in the three cities of Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, and ten affiliated hospitals, the University is striving to become a world-class university and global center of learning.
Yunnan University, Kunming, Yunnan Province
Yunnan University was founded in 1922 and is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in Southwest China. The University has now gathered a galaxy of talents in liberal arts, science, law, technology, economics, agriculture, medicine, business administration, and fine arts, and has developed into a modern university featuring ethnology, biology, resource development and environmental protection, borderland research, and Southeast Asia and South Asia research. According to a recent discipline ranking released by the MOE, its ethnology, ecology and political science programs rank 2nd, 6th and 10th respectively in the country. According to the 2012 Essential Science Indicators, biology and chemistry at Yunnan University were among the top one percent of the world's academic disciplines.
