Dr. Łukasz Jędrzejowski

Dr. Łukasz Jędrzejowski works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department for German Language and Literature I – Linguistics since 2016. In October 2019 he was elected executive board member of the Junior Faculty Club and represents the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. His main research interests surround around language change processes at the syntax-semantics interface and their formal implementation.

Łukasz Jędrzejowski studied "European Languages: Structures and Use" at the Free University of Berlin and holds a PhD degree in linguistics from the University of Potsdam. In 2015 he successfully defended the PhD thesis entitled "Subject-to-Subject Raising Verbs in German. Their Origin, Emergence and Complements". In the last years he was a visiting scholar at the universities of Stockholm, Venice, Oslo, and Harvard.

Currently he mainly deals with the variation and the diachrony of complex clauses in Germanic and Slavic languages. In his newest project founded by the Daimler and Benz foundation, "Adverbial clauses as non-canonical adjuncts", Łukasz Jędrzejowski examines boundaries of subordinate clauses to get a better and deeper understanding of both individual dependent clauses and sentential dependency relationships in general
