THE-Rankings: University of Cologne in top 9 percent of universities worldwide

Nationally, the University of Cologne comes it at 15th place out of 49 ranked institutions, with particular strengths in the areas research quality and industry

In this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, the University of Cologne once again makes it into the top 9 percent of all listed institutions worldwide. In almost all dimensions, the university was able to improve on last year’s result and achieved its highest overall score to date (61.5 points).

The University of Cologne also achieves an above-average result nationally, ranking 15th out of 49 German universities evaluated, and does particularly well in the areas research quality and industry (third-party funding income from industry, citations of university research in patents).

About the ranking: The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the most influential university rankings worldwide and is published annually. To calculate the rankings achieved, 17 indicators from the areas of teaching, research environment, research quality, internationality and industry are taken into account. This year, 1,904 institutions were included in the ranking.
