In the current university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education (CHE), Master's students of the University of Cologne particularly rate the subject of Business Administration as very good. The subjects Information Systems and Economics also receive very good ratings from the students. The university ranking of the CHE is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of German universities with around 120,000 students surveyed. It includes assessments of students on the study conditions at their university and evaluates facts about studies, teaching and research. It offers prospective students important information to find their academic discipline.

In the Business Administration Department, Master's students are particularly satisfied with the study conditions in general. The University of Cologne received an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars from the respondents. In comparison to other universities, the UoC’s Business Administration Department was also able to score points in terms of study organization, online teaching offers and research orientation. Students also rated the practical orientation of teaching, support for stays abroad and the transition to a Master's degree programme positively above-average. Other factors which received particularly high ratings from the students are the quick responses by lecturers as well as the provided support for questions and problems. The group size of the courses and the academic quality of the teachers were also highlighted positively.

In the field of Information Systems, students are also highly satisfied with the general study conditions (4.2 out of 5 stars). Students especially gave a positive rating to the support provided by lecturers with regard to questions and problems, the discussion of exercises and exams or term papers.  For the Economics Department, students are particularly satisfied with the good organization of their studies and the transition to a Master's degree programme. They also rate the support for stays abroad positively.

“We are very pleased with the excellent evaluations in the various categories, such as the general study conditions, the practical orientation of teaching or the support for organizing stays abroad. We will continue to work hard to provide our students with an excellent learning environment and to support them in their studies in the best possible way,” says Professor Joybrato Mukherjee, Rector of the University of Cologne.  The Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, Professor Ulrich Thonemann, PhD, is also happy with the result: “The current results of the CHE ranking are a testimony to the excellent study conditions at our WiSo Faculty in the disciplines of Business Administration and Information Systems. Our Master's students benefit from an outstanding academic environment, characterized by dedicated lecturers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and a wide range of practice-oriented teaching content.”
