German courses to supplement your studies on levels A1 to C1

Course Contents
On levels A1 to B1 the courses treat German language skills for the daily life. From level B2 the courses treat current topics as well as language structures and academically relevant vocabulary.
Course Hours
Presemester intensive course: 4 weeks with 20 teaching hours of 45 minutes per week. The course is held online.
Semester course: 13 weeks with 6 teaching hours of 45 minutes per week held in two sessions. One session is held online, the other one in person.

Registration

ERASMUS and exchange students register with the Centre for International Relations (ZiB) in their faculty. Please note the registration deadlines!

Exchange students from partner universities and participants in the CGSP will receive information on course offers and registration in the course of their enrolment process.

Students who are part of the program Studienstart International register with their coordinators.

Master students in english speaking programs and international doctoral students register via the registration form for Master and doctoral students.

International scholars and their relatives register with the Welcome Center.
ECTS Credit Points and Certificates
If you complete the course successfully you can receive 9 ECTS credits.
If you are a fully enrolled University of Cologne student the course and the credits will be registered in Klips 2.0 and listed on your transcript of records. Participants who can not access Klips 2.0 can receive a separate certificate.
Course Fees

ERASMUS and exchange students can take one course per semester free of charge. For a second course you will be charged a fee of 250 EUR.

Students who are part of the program Studienstart International can take German courses completely free of charge.

Master students in english speaking programs can only be exempted from the course fee if they are obliged to take German language courses according to their examination regulations. Otherwise you will be charged a fee of 250 EUR per course.

International doctoral students can only be exempted from the course fee if they are obliged to take German language courses according to their examination regulations. Otherwise you will be charged a fee of 250 EUR per course.

International scholars will be charged a fee of 250 EUR per course.

Relatives of International scholars will be charged a fee of 250 EUR per course.
