Welcome on campus: 1,000 freshers begin their studies at the University of Cologne

Freshers’ welcome event on 08 April in person and as a live stream / information fair on campus

Around 1,000 students in their first university semester are commencing their studies at the University of Cologne in the summer semester of 2024. In order to ease the students into starting at university, the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies, Professor Dr Beatrix Busse, and the student union (AStA) welcome the first-semester students to a welcome event. The welcome programme on campus is accompanied by an information fair on Albertus-Magnus-Platz, where first-year students can get to know the campus as well as central university and student institutions. The press is cordially invited to the event.

Around 41,500 students have enrolled at the University of Cologne for the summer semester 2024. The total share of female students is 63 percent, i.e. about 26,000 students. The total number of international students enrolled in Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at the University of Cologne is currently around 4,500, which corresponds to about eleven percent.
