What we offer
Flexible working hours
With flexible working time and part-time models, flextime and home office, we enable our employees to plan their day in harmony with their private lives.
Wide range of continuing education opportunities
We are committed to personnel and career development at all levels. A kaleidoscope of continuing education allows our staff to develop personally, pursue their professional interests and develop potential.
Healthy at the workplace
Preventive health care is important for us. We do our utmost to create working conditions that promote the health of our employees. This is essential for our faculty and staff in research and teaching as well as the many employees working to support our excellent scholars and scientists. The University promotes a positive team atmosphere, for example through training courses and workshops. Moreover, it offers its employees a wide range of activities. For example, the UniSport programme ensures that professional trainers offer short exercise breaks at the office. Students and staff can also book very reasonably priced massages. A balanced meal contributes to relaxation and well-being: in the University’s canteens and cafes, the cooks of Kölner Studierendenwerk (the student union) offer a wide range of meals to ensure the physical well-being of both students and staff.
Family-friendliness
Dual career perspectives, the needs of young families or perhaps the need to spend time with family members in need of care – we offer our employees a comprehensive service in all important matters relating to the compatibility of family and career.
Parking spaces and public transport
The University is centrally located and can be easily reached by public transport or car. In order to make the journey as stress-free as possible, we offer our employees a job ticket at a reduced price for local public transportation. Or you can purchase a reasonably priced parking ticket.
Events and cultural activities
Music, theatre, radio, readings, guest lectures – the University of Cologne offers a wide range of activities for culture enthusiasts. The Collegium Musicum represents the musical life of the University and offers students, faculty and staff as well as external guests a variety of opportunities to experience music – by visiting a concert or actively participating in one of the ensembles. Studiobühneköln, the University’s own theatre, stages classical and modern productions. Cologne Campus Radio, the University’s radio station, features current topics and interesting items on 100.0 MHz.
