Orange The World: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

25 November marks the anniversary of the day of remembrance and action to combat discrimination and violence of all forms against women and girls. The University of Cologne is once again setting a visible example on this day and is publishing information as well as orange graphics and banners on its digital channels. Orange is the colour introduced by the United Nations as a symbol for a world free of violence for women. Many cities and organizations around the world and throughout Germany are taking part. The UN campaign ‘Orange The World’ has been drawing attention to gender-based violence since 1991.

Information on gender-based discrimination and sexual violence as well as contact and counselling centres at the University of Cologne can be found on the website of the Central Gender Equality Officer.

More information about the campaign day can be found on the website of the Stadt Köln (only available in German).
