We develop and enable

We integrate
Starting a new job with a new employer is a decisive time that – ideally – sets the course for many years of successful cooperation. That is why we thoroughly introduce ourselves to our new colleagues and support our leaders in integrating new team members.
Since it is important to us that new colleagues quickly find their way around and feel comfortable, we offer introductory events for new staff on a regular basis. Here you can get useful information about our organization and at the same time get to know colleagues from other areas.
Some employees spend part of their working time at home, switching between their offices at the University and their “telework stations”.
The University of Cologne pursues various goals with this model:
- increasing its attractiveness as an employer
- increasing work–life balance: improved compatibility of family and career
- increasing job satisfaction
Please feel free to contact us. Together, we will check whether you meet the requirements for working from home.
We promote exchange
For us, job shadowing in the administration and in different academic units is an important building block for the development of our employees – and the University as a whole. During a visit to a different department, you will have the opportunity to get to know other tasks and responsibilities, to broaden your horizon and gain a deeper understanding of the University as a whole.
In the administration, we come into contact with people from around the world. That is why language skills, but also intercultural competencies and mobility are increasingly important for us. We promote international skills and professional exchange with international universities, for example with the ERASMUS programme. All important information can be found here.
