Now it is up to you: user testing starts
The web relaunch project has entered the next exciting phase: The prototype of the web design will be implemented. This means that the design developed so far is ‘translated’ into the markup and programming languages so that your browser can display the website in its new look.
The prototype created can be used to test variations in the design by making adjustments to the code, which are then automatically applied to all the relevant prototype features.
We are therefore using this test phase to test certain key aspects of the future design: During user testing, volunteer testers can visit the prototype website and complete tasks or answer questions – you can take part, too! However, please note that the prototype and instructions will be available in German only.
This is how you can participate:
The survey takes about 15 minutes. You are welcome to drop by without registration:
When? The first appointment is scheduled for Monday, 28 October, between 10 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. – please check back here shortly before this date.
Where? Course room 3/basement, room number -1.01 at the RRZK in Weyertal 121
How? You can complete the survey on a PC at one of the 25 workstations.
You will be given an exclusive insight into the university’s future web design and make a valuable contribution to usability testing.
What happens to the test results
Thanks to the digital recording of the test results, they can be analysed quickly. Based on the results, it is then decided which variants of the test items will be implemented. We will be sure to let you know in the next blog post how this affects the further design implementation.
Data protection notice
We do not collect any sensitive personal data. Participants will only be asked questions about their age group, target and user group affiliation and, if applicable, their web usage habits. Participation takes place without registration at a PC workstation at the Regional Computing Centre (RRZK) of the University of Cologne. The survey software we use is LimeSurvey on the LimeSurvey server operated by the RRZK.
