Review Idealist Grad Fair 2019

According to the organizers, more than 1,300 participants visit the Idealist Grad Fair in New York City every year. The goal for the University of Cologne at the 2019 fair was to focus on the target group of U.S. junior scientists and students in the New York metropolitan area and to draw their attention to possibilities regarding mobility and cooperation at the UoC and in Germany in general. Having a booth at the fair further helped to increase the visibility of Germany and the UoC as a science and innovation hub, and to distribute information on studying and research by offering one-on-one consulting sessions, providing information materials, and strengthening the initial contacts by follow-up emails after the fair. UoC NY Office Executive Director Dr. Eva Bosbach consulted participants at the UoC table and collected 35 contacts on the sign-up sheet for follow-up consulting via e-mail. Dr. Bosbach also raised third-party funds to cover the costs for the UoC booth and participation from DAAD New York and the German Consulate New York through the Science Diplomacy Fund. The UoC was one of the few non-U.S. universities represented, besides universities from Great Britain and one from Sweden.
