(1) The University of Cologne charges a fee of 500 Euros per semester for the enrollment in a preparatory German class within the Department "German as a Foreign Language". The fee is levied at the same time as the semester tuition fees.
(2) The University of Cologne charges a fee of 250 Euros per semester for the participation in a German class within the Department "German as a Foreign Language" (Pre-semester class or regular class for 6 hours per week). When the class commences, the International Office issues an invoice to each participant. Short-term students from partnership programs as well as students with majors in foreign languages, for whom the enrollment in the German classes is mandatory according to their examination regulations, can be exempted from the fees. The exemption clause can only become effective if the student presents adequate proof of the examination regulations before the German class commences.
(3) The University of Cologne charges a fee of 80 Euros for the participation in the "Deutsche Sprachprüfung zum Hochschulzugang" (DSH).
