International Network

The University of Cologne has a strong international network with partner institutions worldwide. It contains more than 300 partnerships on faculty- and department-level and 85 university-wide partnerships. With a selected number of universities UoC has established Global Network Partnerships. These partnerships are based on extensive cooperation projects in the domains of research, teaching and campus management.

In the context of its institutional strategy the UoC has formed Strategic Research Partnerships with leading international research institutions within the domain of its key-profile areas. The focus of these partnerships is on research. The partnerships are coordinated by the four key-profile areas.

The University of Cologne has three International Liaison Offices in North-America, China and India and has nominated academic ambassadors for North-America, Japan and China.

The UoC is coordinator of the China-NRW-University Alliance, an open initiative supported by the universities of North Rhein-Westphalia and aimed at networking cooperation activities with its partners in China.

International contacts of UoC are being coordinated by the Vice-Rectorate for International Affairs, the International Office and the Centers of International Relations on faculty level.
