The University of Münster, founded in 1780, is one of the largest universities in Germany, rich in tradition and one of the first addresses for research, studying and teaching. Currently more than 40,000 students are enrolled in 120 different courses provided by 15 departments. Over 250 institutes and seminars are conducting pure as well as applied research. About 400 official partnership and cooperation agreements are linking the University of Münster with other universities all over the world. The number of graduates and the research awards issued by the university reflect the fact that the University of Münster values quality above quantity. The City of Münster awarded in 2004 the title of ”World´s Most Liveable City”.
