Responsibility (by Pawel Gawronski)

We fought because we used to differ,
even with a common future on the horizon
We built the wall, not only those of bricks,
But those of ideas and values as tricks.

If only before the blood of past was shed,
we all knew, that we will share the same debt.
Hate and ignorance was fuel of our destruction,
we all watched it - hopelessness in eruption

The consciousness of past runs in our veins,
but this time fear doesn’t hold our chains.
Past mistakes, on those we don’t dare to dwell
This time it will be courage who rings the bell.

Courage to take upon us the responsibility,
Together we pursue the prosperity till infinity
We know where evil deed might lead,
thus, we should keep the demons of old at bay.

We looked high and admired the dark sky,
We asked why the stars might shine so bright
Without the need to fight which one has more light
Inspired by them, we invited them to our flag.

Today, united we stand in our diversity,
because we understand past absurdity.
We now see that we share not only the land,
but the dreamland built with our own hand.

Today, we smashed even the thickest walls,
and out of their bricks we build new laws.
The ideas and values are now mutual,
Since to collaborate is the only right ritual.

Today, even though faced by crises,
we won’t stay hopeless on our knees.
We act, there is no other possibility.
To solve problems is our responsibility.

Today, even though we lost one of our own,
the doors remain open, it should be known.
Europe is your home, keep that in mind
and remember - we are stronger combined.

The Breakup (by Lucie Carr)

Hello darkness my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision of a patriotic, sovereign Britain softly creeping
Left its seeds and wreaked national havoc whilst I was sleeping
And the vision, of an autonomous United Kingdom that was planted in my brain
Still remains

I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies,
From your monstrous bureaucratic ties,
A master manipulator, an immigration enabler, a legislative dictator
God knows, God knows I want to break free

At first, I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
Listening to Nigel, Boris and the Right
That I grew strong and decided I could get along

Now that you're out of my life I'm so much better
You thought I’d be weak without you, clever!
But on my island I’ll be stronger,
won’t have to pay fees no longer,
Watch me start an economic wonder,
I'm a survivor

And yet …

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
To find a conclusion, a deal, some sort of resolution
And the borders are closing
And the taxes and the turmoil are rising
And the opportunities for growth, collaboration and change are waning
I can't get no, I can't get no

With or without you
With or without you
See the Americans ignore my pleading cries
See the rapid unravelling of 50-year-long ties
Observe Westminster’s slow and torturous demise
Note my diminishing number of allies
I can’t live with or without you

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Suddenly I'm not half the country that I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Of all the departed skilled workers from various nations
Of the two billion pounds wasted on negotiations
The shadow of tolerance, unity and a common identity
Oh, yesterday (the best of all days?) came suddenly

Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision of a patriotic, sovereign Britain softly creeping
Left its seeds and wreaked national havoc whilst - I - was - sleeping
And the vision, of an autonomous United Kingdom that was planted in my brain
Is now a grim, lonely reality that
Still remains
