University of Cape Town

Since 1980, the partnership between the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the University of Cologne is based on longstanding informal research cooperation, mainly in the field of Anthropology, African Studies and Prehistoric Studies. The first formal agreement between the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the University of Cologne has been concluded in 2011. As the negotiations for a GNP agreement are ongoing, both parties are excited about the opportunities that will come up.

The University of Cape Town (UCT) was founded in 1829 and is one of the most important academic hubs in the southern hemisphere. Both Shanghai and Times Higher Education ranking confirm UCT's outstanding position on the African continent.

With internationalisation being intergal part of the universities mission, UCT has attracted staff and students from more than 100 countries to the picturesque campus at the foot of the table mountain. Registering more than 20% of students coming from abroad, the University of Cape Town reflects the vibrant mulitculturalism of Western Cape's capital.
